Terms & Conditions
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Steerz website (www.steerz.ca) and any services provided by Steerz Driving School (“Steerz,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a driving school based in Ontario, Canada. By accessing or using the Website or booking our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not access the Website or use our services.
1. SERVICES
Steerz provides modern driver education services, including driving lessons, online classes, and test preparation. All in-car lessons include home pickup within our service area. Service availability may vary depending on scheduling.
2. ELIGIBILITY
By using our services, you represent that you are of legal age to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction. If you are under the legal age, you may only use the Website and services with the involvement of a parent or guardian. You further represent and warrant that you possess a valid, non-probationary driver’s license or learner’s permit as required by the Province of Ontario, and that you are medically fit to operate a motor vehicle.
3. REGISTRATION AND STUDENT AGREEMENT
In order to access certain features of the Website or to book services, you may be required to register an account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information during the registration process and to keep your account information up to date.
Prior to your first in-car lesson, you will be required to sign a separate “Lessons Agreement & Liability Release” form. Failure to sign this agreement will result in cancellation of your lesson without refund.
4. FEES AND PAYMENTS
Fees for Steerz services are outlined on the Website and may be subject to change. All fees are quoted in Canadian Dollars (CAD). Payment for services must be made in full prior to scheduling lessons or accessing any materials, unless otherwise agreed upon. We accept payment through approved methods listed on the Website, or in-person to your instructor by cash or debit. For certain services, such as the Beginner Driver Education (BDE) course, a deposit may be required to secure your booking, with the remaining balance due prior to the commencement of in-car lessons. You are responsible for any bank or payment processing fees for online transactions. Steerz reserves the right to refuse service to any client with an outstanding balance.
5. CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
5.1 Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy: You must provide a minimum of 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a lesson. Lessons cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice, or in the event of a no-show, will be charged in full.
5.2 Refund Policy:
At Steerz, our goal is to provide an exceptional learning journey for our students. We recognize that circumstances can shift unexpectedly, which may impact a student’s ability to complete their lessons.
Refund Eligibility: Students are entitled to request refunds for unused lessons or services they haven’t yet commenced.
How to Request a Refund: To initiate a refund, please contact our customer service team via email at support@steerz.ca within 30 days of your purchase. Refund requests submitted beyond this timeframe cannot be accommodated.
Processing Timeline: We aim to process approved refunds within 5-10 business days. Refunds will be credited back to the original payment method used.
Service Validity: All purchased lessons and packages must be completed within 365 days of the purchase date. Any unused lessons after this period will expire.
Non-Refundable Costs: Please be aware that certain expenses, such as completed lessons or administrative fees related to the booking, may be deducted from the refundable amount.
Policy Updates: Steerz reserves the right to revise this refund policy as needed. Any modifications will be communicated through our website.
6. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The content on the Website, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, images, software, and any proprietary course curricula, lesson plans, and educational materials provided to you during your course of instruction, is the property of Steerz or its licensors and is protected by Canadian and international copyright laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or otherwise use any of this content without prior written permission.
7. USER CONDUCT
You agree to use the Website and services for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not use the Website in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair our servers or networks, or interfere with any other party’s use and enjoyment of the Website.
7.1 Conduct During Lessons: You agree to conduct yourself in a respectful and safe manner during all lessons. The instructor has the right to terminate a lesson immediately, without refund, if the student is: (a) under the influence of drugs or alcohol; (b) repeatedly fails to follow the instructor’s lawful directions; (c) engages in any behavior that endangers the safety of the instructor, the student, or the public.
8. MEDICAL DISCLOSURE
You have a continuing duty to inform your instructor of any medical, physical, or psychological condition, or any medication you are taking, that could impair your ability to operate a motor vehicle safely. Failure to do so may result in the immediate termination of your lessons without a refund and will absolve Steerz of any related liability.
9. PRIVACY
Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy page to understand how we collect, use, and disclose information about you.
10. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES
The Website and services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Steerz makes no representations or warranties about the accuracy, reliability, completeness, or timeliness of the content or services provided.
11. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Steerz and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from (a) your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Website or services; (b) any conduct or content of any third party on the Website; (c) any content obtained from the Website; or (d) unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content.
11.1 Liability for Driving Lessons: You acknowledge that operating a motor vehicle involves inherent risks. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree that Steerz and its instructors shall not be liable for any claims, damages, or injuries arising from your participation in driving lessons, except where directly caused by the proven negligence of Steerz or its instructor. This limitation of liability is incorporated by reference into, and is in addition to, the separate ‘Lessons Agreement & Liability Release’ form you will be required to sign prior to your first lesson.
12. INDEMNIFICATION
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Steerz and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or relating to your violation of these Terms or your use of the Website or services.
13. GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Website or services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario.
14. CHANGES TO TERMS
Steerz reserves the right to update or modify these Terms at any time without prior notice. By continuing to access or use the Website or services after any such changes, you agree to be bound by the updated or modified Terms.
